Plaster Sculpture
These sculptures grow out of my fascination with dynamic equilibrium, how articulated motion can be implicit in a still form. I developed a method of using cast plaster form parts in a way that I can collage, model, and carve all in one piece, all from the same materials: plaster, water, and burlap. Since the forms begin hollow, I can manipulate them myself, cutting, connecting, modeling with tools, even when they are larger than I am.
